A Case of the Giant Cell Reaction inthe Foot

Abstract
Several varieties of bone lesions contain giant cells of osteoclastic type in varying numbers. Previously, many of these lesions were considered gaint cell tumor variants but now most of lesion with a predominance of osteoclastic giant cells are classified in other cathegories. ~
Ackerman and Spjut reported a previously undescribed non-neoplastic solitary proliferation of fibrous tissue with abundant giant cell and osteoid involving the phalangeal bone in 1962, which they called giant cell reaction.
The cause and mechanism of giant cell reaction is obscure but occasionally following trauma.
We have encountered one case of the giant cell reaction in the foot.
